Sotos Green (easymoods)
Sotiris aka Sotos was born in Melbourne, Australia in 1977.
Sotos’ appreciation of music started as a youngster with artists such as The Jackson 5, Kool & The Gang, Michael Jackson, Prince, Terrence Trent D’Arby, Grandmaster Flash and the list goes on. From there he began his DJ quest, first as a DJ groupie, underage sneaking into clubs with his cousin and early DJ teacher Jon Savage, and then once a little older, he started playing odd gigs at parties of all kinds.
At the age of 19 he landed his first club gig at ‘Bar 20’ Melbourne, a popular city club, where he became the resident DJ for 6 years as well as Host/MC and coordinator of the nightly stage shows. He remembers those early years as GOLDEN!
‘Bar 20’ was also the springboard that led him to meet Alex who was well connected with a team of great event organisers. Sotos, via introduction by Alex, followed on to work as a DJ for “Empire Events” (Melbourne/Sydney), and toured with the company throughout their many successes right up until his departure for Europe in August 2005. The events included, but were not limited to:
• D&D Dance Party - a 4,000 person event held right across Australia at venues such as The Telstra Dome (Melbourne);
• Spring Lunch @ QBH (Melbourne Cup & Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival);
• May on the Bay, and December to Remember boat cruise parties out on Port Phillip Bay (Melbourne).
Sotos has worked in many regular club venues across Melbourne as well, such as; ‘Eleven A’ (city), War of the DJ’s @ ‘QBH’ (South Melbourne), ‘L’otel’ (St Kilda), ‘Cargo’ (Docklands), ‘The Marque Hotel’ (St Kilda), to name just a few.
For 4 years running, prior to his overseas departure, Sotos also played every New Year’s Eve and subsequent Friday and Saturday nights throughout January (Australian summer) at ‘The Star’ Bar & Nightclub in Bright, located in North Eastern Victoria, a known tourist Mecca during the summer period in Melbourne.
A longing to get back in touch with his roots brought him to Greece in August 2005, where he spent the latter part of the summer DJ’ing on the island of Rodos (birth place of his mother), as well as Santorini and Naxos. After which he headed to the town of Kastoria (birth place of his father), fitting in some gigs whilst meeting up with his relatives there again for the first time in 20 years.
From Greece he moved to Austria, again to meet up with more relatives, and decided to make the city of Graz his home for the time being. He began his settling in period playing at ‘Continuum’ and then moved on to ‘Orange Bar’ where he now has a loyal following of movers and shakers, and that is also the place where he met Emeegrant…
And so, this is where the story of Sotos and EmeeGrant begins! The place where the easymooods revolution/movement comes to life…
Since Sotos’ commencement with easymoods , he and EmeeGrant have already played together in Vienna on Radio FM4 (Digital Konfusion mix show broadcast online) and at ‘Orange Bar’ in Graz.
