SEE THE LIGHT is exactly what it is. It is musical illumination to help you with the visibility of your environment. Good lighting is both a science and an art, as is music. It should always be perceptible. The music is warm, visual and inviting. Hints of jazz and sophistication, elegant beats, mannered vocals rule. Good lighting is always moving too, ‘SEE THE LIGHT’ musically moves along nicely, from song to song, instrument to instrument. Composed, written and designed, all beautifully. Talented and worldly artists such as Jazzanova, Mo’ Horizons, Sofa Surfers and Mario Biondi lead a cast of wonderful music makers assigned in their roles to make you smile and feel comfortable. EmeeGrant and A Lord also find a few exclusive hidden gems and secrets to make this even more special.

It’s delightfully agreeable and courteous to its surroundings, yes, that includes you the listener. It’s a very agreeable marriage.

The musical marriage with light continues. After the fantastic and sincere response and love shown to the first edition of “SEE THE LIGHT”, the boys thought that they would return with another wondrous selec- tion of sonic delights for our enjoyment. Designers, architects, and general customers of XAL all unequivocally took to the concept and both artists EmeeGrant and A Lord once again are ready, willing and able to reproduce another illuminating collection from his vast and expressive musical vaults. DJs by definition listen to huge amounts of music; there is no one better to ask to compile your compilation, I guess, than a DJ with imagination, and vision and flair. We like to call them “sound architects”. And where this is music there is very often light. Even in the darkest of environments you can usually spot its profile and personality. And to me, light always has a personality. It has the complexity and the attributes of what causes behavioural, temperamental, emotional reactions to its local environment, and that includes us as living breathing human beings. Light is unique and individual and should be seen as having its own distinction of persona. Light is in fact the messenger, throughout the universe actually. Light travels and with it comes the history of time and space. Think about it, just how important light is and what a message it brings? Strange thing is, music travels too, be it a lot slower of course. Thankfully, you will be reasonable close to your speakers and Hifi system to experience the great selection EmeeGrant and A Lord have in store for us. And all the boxes have been ticked too. Music diverse and different, but all with a philosophy and a great belief. The new and the old are covered, the borrowed and blue too. Names you know and some you do not. Trust is important here. “Trust the DJ” is actually an expression we use a lot in music circles. You will be the beneficiary.

You will be seduced indeed by the soothing soul of Masirah and Lemongrass. The spiritual and hipness of The Bas Lexter Ensample and Van Morrison. The chic and sensuality of Jettricks had me personally reaching for the chocolate truffles before my girlfriend ate them all. Boogiewood, Tontelas and Messer’s Kruder & Dorfmeister soar with the finest and most elegant downtempo ever produced. Things pick up in the most sophisticated manner with Fabio Genito and Jakobin & Domino. And the really excitable came in the form of Maceo Plex and Nufrequency with some brilliant nu-disco that should have you displaying some sultry hip movements.

A fantastic selection and worthy of your attention for every second. SEE THE LIGHT VOL.2 is a fabulous continuation from the first edition.

Deep, futuristic detroish and atmospheric grooves, packed with glorious keys and cords, organic congas and dynamic basslines by Jakobin & Domino, an austrian duo providing their first release on easymoods recordings.

Selected Quotes :

EmeeGrant (easymoods rec.) : I was so astonished as I’ve got those tracks and decided right away to release it on my label. Deep, sophisticated with a touch of afro beats : absolutely great! Stay tuned for further releases of Jakobin & Domino !

Oscar P (OpenBar Music) – “Now We Are” is a great track, will support!

Roberto Rodriguez : Congrats for the first release. And a nice one it is. Digging the “High Moments” the most!

Rodney Hunter : “High Moments” is very deep, very hypnotic, very nice!

Claude Monnet : A really well produced EP. Good sound!

MAKOSSA : Both tracks are nice, deep atmospheric vibes !

Lars Behrenroth (Deeper Shades Of House): Super deeper tracks! Will play.

Victor Simonelli (Sunshine Records / NYC) : Such deep & smooth tracks! Nice work, thanks! Playing at all my gigs!

Fabio Genito (Vega Records) : DOPENESS !!! Will include in my WMC 2011 MIX ! Love it!

JP Rigaud (easymoods rec.) : Great work! Diggin’ the “High Moments” track.

Terry Thompson (Defected) : Both tracks are good for me!

DJ Nova (Rodon FM / easymoods / Greece) : The most exciting deep house sound of the year is coming from central Europe. Those guys got the most fresh sound on the scene. Pumping deep house that touches the other side of Atlantic ocean, detroitish ”Now We Are” is a bomb…

Luca Sabellico (Segafredo Miami) : Really nice music! Already played those tracks @ Segafredo / Miami Beach. The people love it!

Torre Bros : “Really good launch for the easymoods recordings label.
We definitely love “High Moments”. 4/5

Deep Y’all aka Rico : Great release! Deep atmospheric. I love it ! 8/10

Daniele “Shield” Contrini (Rebirth) : Really like the new release, expecially “Now We Are” !

Alan Brown : Really loved the two tracker. Nice atmospheric grooves, not too demanding and not too intricate, moves along just nice. Plenty warm enough too. Should find its way into many boxes for building up a set.

Stylo : A solid sampler! “High Moments” and “Now We Are” is a flavor of Deep House grooves that to me are a perfect way to set up an early evening soiree or daytime by the pool type of show.

Simon Lebon : Very nice release, good production and a lovely deep vibe, very good start for the label, I think.

An aficionado respected worldwide for his passion and professionalism, EmeeGrant is the mastermind of the easymoods movement, a record label (easymoods recordings) and cultural association (easymoods culture) based in Graz/Austria. His work and deejaying on three continents have forged a distinctive sound that is warm, sophisticated and innovative. Spending several years fine-tuning his musical skills, mixing up deep, soulful, tech house, influenced by African roots and funky rhythms, specially mixed, designed and sculpted to make you move. Being creative with the music is the most important thing, always hunting for the perfect mix, the smoothest transition. Jet-setting around the world and performing at some of the most prestigious venues and festivals, EmeeGrant was keeping his own style, but feeling the vibe of the crowd. Right now he has got locked in the studio perfecting his craft with plenty of new productions. Suffice to say, the deep house scene should be expecting big things from EmeeGrant in 2012.

With almost two decades of experience on the turntables, it has been in the last twelve years that JP Rigaud gained worldwide recognition. Unsatisfied with the musical growth in Miami Beach during the early 90s he decided to take matters into his own hands. He opened Zanzibar, one of the first venues on the beach to host the world’s top drum & bass DJs. There J.P. created the first successful weekly drum and bass night in Miami Beach and a pulsing underground music scene.

Always on the up and coming with electronic music, he found a way to introduce different genres of sounds to a once wasteland of musical taste through his venue whether spinning or hosting new acts . His creativity, love and enthusiasm for new music have contributed to the evolution of electronic music on the South Beach scene & his passion leads him around the globe DJing.

J.P. Rigaud became the first resident DJ of Nikki Beach Club in 1999, the infamous venue, known as the first European style beach club in the U.S. There he found his niche for almost ten years and perfected his new sound for the masses and once again turning the Miami party scene on its ear through his avant-garde sound. In the 2001 season, he found himself in great demand in many S.O.B.E hot spots such as Bash, Rumi Supper Club, Opium Garden, Spin (sister venue of Club Space), Living Room, Bed, Kiss and Touch Supper Club. 2002 to 2007 was no different, JP held residencies at various venues in Miami including the Sunday Soiree party at the Raleigh Hotel.

In the summer of 2007, JP returns as a resident at Nikki Beach Saint Tropez then to Nikki Beach Miami for his Sunday extravaganza of seven-hours marathon set. In late 2010 J.P. gets a new Sundays residency at Mondrian hotel pool party and more… Among his travels, J.P. will return to spin in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Holland, Italy, England, Spain, Norway, Greece, Columbia, Venezuela, Brazil, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Hawaii, the US and many more wonderful places. So look for him spinning in your city soon…

The Jakobin & Domino project is the brainchild of Austrian duo Georg Nadler and Dominik Huber. Their friendship was formed at school over fifteen years ago thanks to a shared passion for skateboarding, then cemented by a mutual taste for eclectic music. Early influences included hip hop followed by an evolving love of electronic music. Uptempo music got them into DJing together at first and then into producing, where their main focus is on house music (covering its full rich palette).

DJ Joe-Joe is host of THE DIGITAL KONFUSION MIXSHOW on Radio FM4 / Vienna. He is one of the founding DJs/members of the DIGITAL KONFUSION CREW originating out of New York City. Joe-Joe is known as a 4-to-the-floor specialist who just loves playing house and all of its relative offspring; tech-house, electro-house, minimal, soulful/vocal house… and even its grandparent, disco. Joe-Joe has a love for mixing music no matter where: be it at home, in clubs where he regularly plays and got his start, or on his DIGITAL KONFUSION MIXSHOW which can be heard every Saturday from midnight to 3am (Central European time, which is 6pm to 9pm East Coast time in the United States). Enjoy the sounds!

Lady Smiles is a certified music business manager, sound consultant, radio show presenter, compiler and DJane from Vienna. From her own label, Smiles Recordings, she has for years been providing countless international clients with professional knowledge, broad experience, creative ideas and individual sound solutions for an upscale target group. Lady Smiles’ career grew naturally out of her deep love for music when she was growing up. Over the years, her affinity for delicious sounds beyond the mainstream blossomed into an ever-expanding selection of her own tunes. She became an expert in nu-jazz, heads and grooves, until winter 2005 saw her burst onto the scene as a DJane. From then on, she spoiled audiences at renowned locations and company events in Austria, and from Germany to Greece, although never as a “turntable wizard”; instead, she built up an excellent reputation on the international scene by treating her highbrow audiences to the sophisticated, exhilarating sounds that echo her highly selective taste. A cheerful, gentle music expert, spreading the finest sounds and smiles, she’s simply out to make the listeners feel good! Apart from her plainly audible sound consulting on various Wave Music CD projects from 2008-2009, the Viennese Bar music expert served an authentic interpretation of a seductive cocktail mixed from the finest grooves and rare tunes on her first CD compilation, “Bar Bubbles” (autumn 2009), followed by her beat-fanatic recipe for “Club Cookies” in spring 2010 (both released by Holophon). She also runs the monthly music magazine “Smiles Styles FOCUSED” on Radio Orange 94.0 FM / Vienna and the biweekly fresh broadcast “Lady Smiles swinging Nu-Jazz X-presss” on UK Jazz Radio. www.smilesrecordings.com

KMKG STUDIO/ was founded in 2004 by Martin Kern, Xaver Kettele and Georg Kettele and has recently been run as an open studio. It sees itself as an interdisciplinary architecture and design studio based in Graz, Austria. The main focus of their work is given, real or virtual space, scale and the transient moment of the here and now. Ongoing research into technology and development is a core part of the process, constantly allowing for experimentation within new fields, changing perspectives on, and approaches to, what already exists. Each project starts as a tabula rasa; the given is seen as a challenge, while limits represent an opportunity. The variety of tasks undertaken keeps the studio fit in terms of creative process, while exchange with others serves as a source of inspiration. This approach has created a diverse collage of realised projects…
